Why I Haven’t Blogged
In this post I intend to deflect blame for my lack of blog posts by pointing fingers and shifting blame. So if you’re one of THOSE people who believes strongly in personal responsibility, maybe you should look away now.
Primarily, I blame the internet, but that’s too vague. More specifically, I blame TV shows that I’ve found recently, shows that I’ve enjoyed watching. The Wire, Southland, Lie To Me, The Mentalist, and any documentary put out by the BBC. That’s on top of the shows I was already following; Reaper, 30 Rock, Lost, Chuck, The Big Bang Theory, Bones, Supernatural, Dollhouse, Fringe, Mythbusters, and The Daily Show. I’ll certainly be glad when they are all wrapped up for the season. Summer TV should be a bit lighter with just True Blood, Entourage, and Eureka bringing new episodes, that I know of. I’m a little afraid to check The Futon Critic for more. I need more time for gaming!
Speaking of gaming, I recently picked up Crackdown for the 360. I know I’m late to the party, but that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable. I’ve also been putting in some quality time with MLB ‘09 The Show, working on getting my player in the bigs. Then there’s GTR Evolution that I’ve been playing on my desktop PC. Damn racing games can be addictive. Bioshock sits on my desk just waiting to be played.
Beyond that, I’ve been listening to audio books (World War Z & The Zombie Survival Guide) while walking to and from work and listening to podcasts at work. As you can see, my brain has been quite occupied. My podcast RSS list is in serious need of weeding. 28 podcasts is far too many to keep up with, especially when the people on many of them annoy me with their ignorance.
And then there’s this silly little thing called Twitter. God damn the evil Twitter!! Okay, I know it doesn’t soak up a lot of my time, but it certainly is a distraction. I find myself trying to compress full blog posts into 140 characters just to blurt them out via TweetDeck or Twhirl. I could post a whole diatribe about Twitter alone, but suffice it to say that I find it useful and will keep using the damn thing far more than Facebook.
So, this is not the end of my blog. Call it a reboot, a new start, a small step back into the blogging world. I can do this. I got this. I just need to shut down some of my other distractions.
