Gizmodo Blogger Banned From CES

with one comment

There are bad decisions and then there are REALLY bad decisions. The choice made by Gizmodo, the tech blog, to take TV-B-Gone to CES 2008 was one level of bad. But then they chose to USE the damn thing on TV’s being shown. I guess the losers over at Gizmodo found the “prank” funny, because they had the audacity to blog about it and post a video on their site. I wonder if they are still laughing now that a Gizmodo staff has been identified and banned from the show.

Personally, I would find it funny if the childish pranksters were prosecuted or at least sued over their little stunt. Before you accuse me of not having a sense of humor, let me say this. People go to CES to see what companies have to offer. When whole walls of TV’s shut down sporadically, or when some asshole with a remote control interrupts a company’s presentation of their technology, the consumer is just as confused as the people manning the booths where these “pranks” occurred. So I’m calling this “prank” a major dick move by people with no regard to what CES is about. This dipshit deserves his ban, and I hope it’s permanent, and I hope the guy gets fired, because not only did he violate the terms of his media credentials, he interfered with exhibits and harmed the consumers and companies showing TV’s at CES.

  1. Gizmodo has been a bunch of screw ups throughout the last few months. When Halo 3 came out they did a competition with their sister site Kotaku. Well the Gizmodo team posted on Kotaku under a real Kotaku members name with bad bad pictures (might have been 2 girls 1 cup). Thats a big no no.

This is why I prefer Engadget for stuff like CES, they take it more seriously.
