Platform Nation is a website for gamers who have come together for the common purpose of podcasting and talking about stuff.  There are several gaming podcasts including PSH Radio, Squad XP, The Fanboys, The Gamers Pub, TQcast, Video Game Jocks, and XBL Radio Blogcast.

Lots of podcast goodness and good discussions with friendly gamers who make you feel welcome is a refreshing change from some of the other gamer forums I’ve checked out.  What more could you ask for?

Unbeknownst to me at the time, Microsoft’s Xbox Live service was suffering some serious downtime/outages/reduced service over the holiday gaming season. Microsoft recently announced that they will be giving away “a full Xbox LIVE Arcade game” that they will make available for download. What I don’t like about their press release is that they don’t say that Xbox Live Gold members will have their choice of any game in the library. My guess is that we’ll all be given a mediocre to craptastic game that very few of us will actually enjoy.

I think that the majority of Xbox Live Gold members would much rather receive a free month of service, cash, or a game of our choice. But that’s absolutely never going to happen. This is Microsoft we are talking about. Although they have more money than all gods put together, they would never ever ever consider doing something to make the majority of their customers happy. Maybe we’ll get super lucky, and Microsoft will give us Omega 5 or Tron, which will reportedly be made available on XBLA this Wednesday.
