Critical Strike Prep
It’s Sunday, and not just any old Sunday. Today is a Critical Strike Podcast recording session Sunday. You can’t often tell when you listen to it, but a lot of preparation goes into each and every episode. There are lots of behind-the-scenes type things that have to get done before we start or the podcast will sound like utter shite.
One such preparatory thing that MUST be done is making a list of all of the stuff I’ve been doing since the last podcast. Normally this takes about 10 seconds, because I normally don’t have anything going on, and I haven’t been playing many games. This time it will be a little different. I’ve actually been doing something other than working 6 days a week.
Another thing we do to prepare is making our individual top 5 lists. I’ve already finished mine. I’ll have to check out Kyle and Josh’s lists in order to better mock them. Won’t those guys be surprised when they hear that I have more than 5 in my top five again?!
And lastly, we have a topic for this episode, and I have to come up with some opinions on it. I chose it, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to think of something to say.
Josh has his own pre-podcast prep that he does. He cuts up the transition music and the tune for the VGM Challenge. He also makes his top 5 list. As for Kyle, who the hell knows what (if anything) the hell that guy does to prepare. I think he just shows up and picks on defenseless Josh and I. I’m not sure what gets into him during the podcast, but I think he’s pure evil.
CES Coverage
If you’re anything like me (and if you’re reading blogs, you are) then you’re probably more than just a little geeked about the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas which starts tomorrow. No doubt G4’s coverage on cable television will be haphazard as usual. Chris Pirillo has put together a very good list of links to satisfy your CES 2008 addiction. Hopefully I won’t be so busy at work tomorrow night that I can’t at least follow CES via some RSS feeds.
openSUSE On PS3
For anyone wishing to install openSUSE 10.3 on their Playstation 3, there are a couple of useful sites out there to get your started. I would (and did) begin at openSUSE.org’s website. They put together a pretty good how-to on the subject that I followed. Just make sure you actually download the torrent version for PowerPC.
If, for some reason, you have the 20 GB PS3, you might want to consider checking out this site. It shows you how to upgrade your PS3 hard drive. It’s useful even if you don’t plan on upgrading. It shows you how to backup and format your PS3’s hard drive. Very useful information!
Here’s another useful link to a discussion on running openSUSE 10.3 on the Playstation 3 and other PPC hardware. It answered a few questions that I found myself asking.
